Friday 55 with a twist

Hey all!

This week I am participating not only in Mr. Knowitall's Flash Fiction Friday 55, but am also linking to Ghost Hunting Theories first annual Blogger Zombie Walk.

So here is my 55 word entry for the Zombie Walk. It allows me to feed my addiction to G-Man's 55 and to fulfill a promise to GHT. Besides....it's fun and isn't that what this is all about?

______________________________________

A muffled shuffling sound came down the chimney flue
as the excited children gathered around the hearth.
Their eyes and hearts filled with anticipation
as sooty dust drifted out toward them.
First one black boot, then another.
Followed by a red and white suited figure.
The children screamed
as the ashen faced creature mumbled
“Brains!”

Scary, creepy Santa. I'll be looking out for him.

It's cold enough here that even the zombies take a pass. Supposed to be -45 tonight (none of that goofy wind-chill nonsense factored in, either).

Glad to have this 55 to get me all creeped out :)

Zombies rule and the internet definitely needs a blogger zombie walk (--an official one, that is--plenty of zombies out there blogging around already imo.) Strangely, as I just made it here, my entry is also zombie-ized, though not in such a festive holiday, christmas-y way. Great minds, etc, and a great 55.

Not so merry Christmas! Yikes! A new take on the holidays.

Fantastic! Not one wasted word. I love microfiction

OMG! I just saw zombie santa a couple of days ago and he's terrifying. In years to come, kids will be putting out plates of brains for Santa in hopes they'll be spared.
Lovely Zombie 55!

See, that's why we don't put up a tree and there is always a fire in our fireplace!

The creepy Santa skeleton definitely added to your poem (that's what it is right?) However, your words are poignant all on their own. And when Santa comes down the chimney chanting about brains, you know you better run and forget all about your fricken wishlist.

Caty said...

that was fun :) I think I would have screamed too-love the picture!
