What The Hell Wednesday - Don't Mess with Grannie

Stories like the following anger me because they are about crooks preying on the weak. But I do love the turn this story takes when one of the angered "weak" strikes back.

Caned Car Helps I.D. Crooks

NEW CASTLE, Pa.  - Pennsylvania police say an 89-year-old woman used her cane to dent the car of two people who stole her friend's purse, and authorities were able to track down the getaway car based in part on the cane's imprint.

New Castle police Chief Thomas Sansone says the woman and her 82-year-old friend were accosted outside a pizza shop Sunday. Police say 27-year-old Jerry Brown Jr. grabbed the purse but couldn't peel away before the 89-year-old banged the car's trunk with her cane.

Police found the car, and, based on the description of the robber - and dents matching the cane - arrested Brown and 21-year-old Tatiana Vargas.

The two are jailed on robbery charges and on warrants for unrelated crimes.

Stealing from an 82-year-old woman and her 89-year-old friend. Lousy creeps. Just give me and probably a few hundred more people who feel like I do about this sort of victimization a couple of minutes alone with one of these idiots. That's me with the tire iron well reasoned explanation to Mr. Brown of why he shouldn't pick on little old ladies.

I just love that the elder woman was so angered she swung her cane at the car. Way to go, Grannie. She now comes in a close second to my other elder statesman hero from Jacksonville.I am telling you...that generation is not to be trifled with. They will use anything handy to smack the crap out of an "evil doer". Maybe we should have sent a company of octogenarians to Afghanistan or Pakistan to find Bin Laden. Bet they would have found him and beat him to death with canes and walkers and whatever else they could lay their hands on. Gotta love 'em.

Back to my story. Grannie smacks the car with her cane and has the presence of mind to i.d. the perp so police can pick them up. And you've gotta know the police weren't happy about two twenty somethings picking on little old ladies. I would be pissed, too.

I would have loved to have seen the expressions on the faces of those two slime balls when police matched a cane handle to the dent in their car and cuffed them. Eyes bulging. Mouths flopped open. They looked at each other in shock and said, "What the Hell?"

Well I hope thatif I live long enough to be an older grannie that I will be smart enough to use whatever is around me. I tell the oldest grandson that he will never be too big for me tomake him behave. He is already 6 ft 2 in. Grannies are a tough lot, young or older.

Watch out because no one is isthrowing us off the cliff.

God bless.

Way to go Grannie! What was missing was a healthy dose of respect, but Grannie delivered it by the cane-ful.

I love this. Especially your idea of sending our elders out to find Bin Laden! I awoke my husband by laughing at this one.
