Its brightness filled the sky
trying with all its might
to warm the cold earth below.
But no matter its effort
the full moon was no match
for winter’s icy grip.

That icy grip progresses
stealthily my way...
The moon was gorgeous last night! Luckily it was in the 60's which made it all the more enjoyable for me :)

Oh! It worked. I lost my first comment, which was something stupid about wanting Spring and how great the picture and words go together. Didn't expect just "Brrr" to actually post.
Mine is up
OH, OH many times over! That moon on Friday evening as it sat on the horizon here in Bend Oregon ~ filled my entire heart, my soul, every little part of my being!!!
Hi Monkeyman, I love the idea of the moon trying to warm something as though it were the sun. Adds to the wintery feel. Beautiful.
Brian already linked me. (Thanks Brian!).
That was beautiful!
Lovely moon, but don't expect it to keep you warm. :) - Great pic & 160!
Mine's here
Of course, its no match. Moon is cool, but winter is Cold!
My 160 is up too!

Hi,
Bit late to the party, but I think I made it. My 160 Challenge poem is "When the Muse takes Vacation" and can be found at http://www.lemoldman.blogspot.com.
I think the poem will explain my tardiness.
Old Goat Larry
Winter may be the stronger one... but yesterday, I really got to see the Moon's pull!! The tide was so low that I thought Hudson was drying up!! Whheewww
But I hear ya, MM... Winter seems to be having a stronger grip at the moment... well said!!
Here's my 160... I know I am kinda late.. but hey! Better late than never! :)
aaah, but it does warm the heart.
Beautifully written.
It's not icy here but very windy, cold and rainy. I love it!
Duh. No kidding. That's why it's winter, and it's icy. And gripping.
:)
Poor little moon, so cold. But bringing such beauty to us all, like your blog!
xo
It's funny, I Have a strong connection to the moon. My favorite is the new moon, when things start fresh and nothing old hangs on, if its not welcome.
Moon looks lot warmer when orangish, it seems it's going to glow.. It looks lot bigger too..
Winter is almost here (In India) but my romance with Moon has not yet begun for the season, it's cloudy ;)
Wishing you a nice Sunday
xx
My First Kiss
