Hiding behind a mask of words
from a vivid imagination,
he kept people at a distance.
To trust was to allow vulnerability.
Anonymity was a safe home,
a place to hide,
yet reveal in bits and pieces
while speaking from the heart:
his true source
of feelings and soul.

Now, that's an honest piece of work! BTW, How much did you have to pay the handsome model to pose with the mask? Oh, and enjoy tomorrow morning's post--Dale underwent surgery and it was all filmed!
Yeah, the Monkey Man revealed....nice to see ya!
Wow! You are definitely the best looking ape I've ever seen. :)
Thanks for this honest glimpse into your heart.

Thanks for being so trusting KP, I promise not to steal your identity for at least 6 months!
Thanks for the reality 55, and have a Kick Ass Week-End...G
THAT is brilliant. I felt it hard.

Is that really you? You're as elusive as I am.

Friday Flash 55
welcome out into the light of day! loved the verse, loved the pictures.
To read you is to see a great guy with a good heart and a talent for letting it speak. Nice, MM.
nice. great to put a face to your words monkey! alright i really am off until sunday...lol
Oh yes! I love this and can relate to it in a powerful way. Read me..and know me. Read me and know my heart...........:)
You are being serious and doing it well, I might add, on a day when I am feeling alarmingly unserious, so I will just say--awesome hockey mask.
Always a pleasure coming this way.
*sw00n* I definintely picked the right day to come and read your 55.
Very nice indeed...
"To trust was to allow vulnerability" - so very true.
Lovely to see the man behind the words...
Yes, most revealing. Nice one.
Hello! Good to meet you. (From someone who's hidden behind a reporter's notebook most of her life.)
I have more hair than you do.
The big reveal! Hello there Monkey Man..you really don't look much like a monkey!!! tee!hee!hee!
Am pleased to meet you!
awesome 55, awesome picture!! funny i pictured you taller
Great! thanks!
I guess we all reveal ourselves in our writing. Your poem expresses that well.
Enjoyed this - the mystery of masks is of perennial intrigue and symbolism. Evocative piece

I like the unmasking!
You rock!
Here is mine:
curtain of pebbled path
you have a profound knowledge of the human psyche...
This is one of my very favorites of yours! I could so relate to every word. Bravo!
Just what i think when i people ask for the face behind my name !
honest and neat !
Liked it :)
This was very touching and special! A true expose!!! Applause!
The man behind the mask! :)
so this is you - great - thanks for revealing - but ya know - sometimes i think our words reveal even more than our pictures does..
btw. i counted da-dumm as two words..
Bald is beautiful baby...wonderful 55! :)
I like you without the mask.
Finally we meet! And what a handsome fella that you are! Mrs Monkey has a good eye! :D
Yes, hiding behind a mask.. I think most of us are walking around in one.
Smiles,
Silver
The ancient Greeks have names for the masks we all wear, but suffice to say, you are a nice looking man - no worries there,,,, and your poetry runs the gamut from sublime to humorous, all in good taste, especially Frozebud, brilliant.
nice to meet you ---
cheers,
joanny
How true! Thanks for the unmasking!
To know you is to love you, MM!
Handsome Monkey Man...
what a truthful 55.
well put.
Happy Weekend.
Read me and know me.
That is absolutely perfect, MM.
Great photos!
It is too easy to hide ourselves away, but writing gives us away...
'read me and know me', absolutely so!
Thanks for your visit. :))
Awesome!! I am beginning to believe that I have come to "know" a few of my blog-pals viz their writing (only)! And that too is a nice feeling, ya know...
This was really good, MM... so very real!
I just scrolled down, and I'm so glad I did! ... 'read me and know me' so true, and the face fits perfectly, it's so nice to see the person behind all that warmth, humour and creativity :o)
Hi!!!! Wow, you look like my brother! Gotta say I'm partial to lack of cranial hair...The Engineer started balding at 25...
And that 55? Nothing short of brilliant. I think a lot of us bloggers straddle that line of anonymity/being known. There's only one partial picture of me on my blog. It's buried in "Green Alaska". (I have a search gadget...very useful tool...)
