What a tangled Sunday 160

Neatly packed and stored eleven months ago,
they somehow emerge a tangled mess.
What exactly is it Christmas lights do
in those boxes from December to November?

How appropriate is this? We just got our Christmas items down out of storage, and THAT is exactly what I found inside the box. The neatly wrapped lights were now a tangled mess. How does that happen?

They certainly seem to get around in those boxes.

It's a conspiracy. They and the wires and bulb holders have all year to plan how miserable they will make your life when you go to give them their thirty days of fame and glory.

Maybe they are on strike for more yard tome.

I have often wondered the same. :-)

I love it.

And that, my friend, is one of life's great mysteries! Why do they do that? Is it the work of holiday Gremlins? Disgruntled Christmas elves?

I often wondered how those lights manage to tangle themselves when I know that I neatly put them away. Someone or something is messing with me.

I have often asked the same question... and today, this very task is on my to-do list.

THANK YOU for the inspiration...

My Sunday 160 may be found here!

Maybe it's just the lazy in me, but wouldn't it just be easier to hang a huge sheet in front of your house and project a movie of someone's house who really does it up big and over the top? Let them do all the leg work.

We might be better off not knowing what they do in there... ;) - great 160!

Mine is here.

What's up with those lights!? It's the same every year no matter how carefully you try to pack them up.
Cute!

Had to laugh - I work so hard as a writer sometimes. I write a 160 and it's posted on two or three dailies on Twitter. That 160 took me 5 minutes to write, format and count the characters

Ha!!!

Claudya Martinez said...

Sure, blame it on the poor Christmas lights.

Sandra said...

It's fairies I tell ya! They exist! They come into our Christmas decoration boxes and break bulbs, tangle wire, and basically piss us off enough that we remember why we hate putting up the damn tree!...wait, maybe I'm speaking for myself here...

Unknown said...

Ha! I like that question. Well, I'll answer it for you. They play Twister...all...year...long. Then, they get so angry at their light friends cheating, that they get in a huge fight, which further tangles them up. They can never find their way back out of the mess, so then they sit like that the rest of the year and tell stories. My lights like to compare themselves to the Chilean miners. Does that answer your question? Not even a little?!

Caty said...

Good question! If you ever find out, let us know please ;) sorry I missed out this week

Lots of people have your problem. Mine is a force of a different color. The Man In Charge of the Lights bundles up each strand neatly and ties it off. Come next year, there lie the neat bundles. But when I go to unwind them, they refuse to be unwound. I have to hurl the whole strand out and rewind it from the back end. I wish they got up to some hankypanky in the box.

I'm sure it's something illegal.
