Tribute to Galen - 55

Ever so meticulous in his work,
his mind focused on the tiniest details.
Working sinew, bone and flesh
until he knew all of mankind
would benefit from his loving labors.
An original.
The leader in his field.
Neither gaping sword wound
nor lion claw laceration
could deter him from his duties.

Galen: Father of Anatomy.

My Namesake!
He was also a terrible quack and butcher. But back then...? Who Knew? Excellent 55 MM, I love Historical stories!
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End...Galen

Hee hee hee! Of course a Galen would be thinking, studying and dreaming of anatomy! Mostly the female form I would hazard to guess. Great 55! And a wonderful History lesson too!

Are you a published poet? You should be...surely you are, right?
You're amazing. I sort of read with my mouth agape.

Isn't it wonderful what we get lost in?
swallowed by- never knowing or suspecting
it might be a labor of love that would benefit others- Thanks.

I learned something here. When I purchace a Galen of milk I will be thankful for the anatomy that processes it.

Really neat 55, Monkey Man. I don't even Galen his work, but I'm glad he kept at it!

I like such perfect dedications ! nice !!

What an excellent 55. As a student nurse over 47 years ago, anatomy was one of my most miserable courses, phsyiology was even worse!

Okay, so I have plans for this morning but everything will have to be postponed while I Google Galen the Anatomist.
The chores you place before me!

Galen, not Copernicus? :)

What an amazing talent to sculpt. I admire it so. And admire your words at once soft and deep.

I just want to know where you found his high school picture.

LOL "high school picture."

He lead to what could arguably be called the most successful branch of medicine - surgery.

Wow!!! I was almost convinced you referring to "our" Galen, till I saw the picture! ;-)

That was some cool wordplay there, MM...

Nice one. And a great tribute.

well deserved tribute! if it wasn't for wise Galen, how different things would've been!

When I saw the title, I thought it was a tribute to our own Galen, our gracious host! I got history instead. Well done! I love history, and it's definitely more memorable in poetic form.

Nice! Really liked "sinew"... Love how you say so much in just a few words.

Claudya Martinez said...

I think you should create a textbook of all 55's.

Sheila said...
