Boredom can lead to many things. Most of which has gotten me in trouble in the past. But at this stage of my life I am too lazy for trouble. It just sounds like too much effort. So, I turn to the blogosphere and the Wonderful World Wide Web to keep me entertained and to seek new reasons to write.
What I love most comes from my fellow humans and the stupid things they do. This week allow me to introduce Trena Fiels and her brilliant stunt as reported in The Oregonian this last weekend.
Salem, Oregon -
A woman who was trying to put sugar in her coffee while driving, ended up with her sport utility vehicle in the North Santiam River.
Trena Fiels, a 42 year old from Detroit, (yes, there is a Detroit, OR) was westbound on Oregon 22 near milepost 38 when she decided her coffee needed sweetening. In her attempt to add sugar, she drove off the highway and then over corrected, sending her vehicle down a 40 foot embankment to the river.
She was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. Oregon State police said she was wearing a seat belt. - The Oregonian, May 30, 2010
Well, thank goodness she was wearing her seat belt. I wonder if she had to have someone else fasten it for her. This is one situation where we are saddened that Darwin's theory of natural selection didn't hold true.
There is already a disclaimer on coffee cups which says "Beverage you are about to enjoy is hot, drink with care". Perhaps they should add - "Beverage you are about to enjoy may need sweetener added. Please do so when vehicle is at a complete stop". Or maybe she shouldn't have used her stir stick.
Just the same, thank you, Trena, for your brilliance and great judgement. You have inspired me. I only wish I could have been there to say, "What the hell?"

Oh my goodness...she definitely wasn't looking after herself on that day but someone was. Lucky not to have been killed. Imagine how her obituary would have read!
It's amazingly stupid the things you see some people do when they're at the steering wheel. Just 2 mornings ago I saw a woman spraying hair spray all over her head at the red light. At least the car was stationary I guess... I just kept thinking I hope she not a smoker, cause all the windows were up & she sprayed for a loooong time.
This definitely deserves its own page in a Driving-for-Dummies handbook. Wowza.
This is another great reason to give up sugar. Dear Lord!!!
oh my...just shaking my head...
Astonishing! Give that woman a Darwin Award!
But did she spill her coffee? Amateur! Probably did! Wonder if she is blond, too?
There are times when the brightest of people would do something most stupid.
That is why I feel, that people are neither good nor bad; just wise or stupid!
Wonders never cease. She will probably have a law suit going shortly. There must be someone to sue over this....
Sadly, there are many, MANY examples every day, of stunts just as stupid as this - and worse.
Yikes, some people!
I am sure she will sue, like the woman now suing google because she got hit by a car while following directions by walking on the highway.
People are not responsible for their own stupidity.
wow...I think I may have said something like this before...but Earth is in trouble...I think I might make a trip to Mars and check it out :)
Monkey Shine!!

I wish the women who put on makeup or people who drive and read the paper had access to this article.
There is a time and a place for multi-tasking. Driving should never be combined with any other function.
I wonder if she got the sugar in her coffee....
Classic! thanks Monkey Man!
Damn, wasted a perfectly good cup of coffee.
No sugar in my coffee. For me, it would be squirting ketchup on my fries. :P
SWEEEEEET!! LMBO There is something to be said for gas station cappuccino!

What the hell is right. I am horrified by the things I see people doing while they are supposed to be driving. It's almost like the driving is an afterthought.
silly biatch!
