Like a Cheshire cat it smiles down upon the world.
What does it know?
Is it laughing at our plight?
Or pleased?
We stand watching with our primitive minds.
Not knowing.
Ever in wonderment.
Feeling small at the scope and depth of the universe.
The Cheshire grin will grow to full wide eyes as the days progress.
Just a rock?
Or the glue that holds us to our muddy ball
and tugs our emotions as the view of white expands.

wonderful MM...love to look at the moon and wonder...does it look back?
You're waxing poetic today. Good grief, you must get starry skies in Portland.
I love the moon. I'm still mad at NASA for crashing rockets into it. It probably is the glue that holds the Universe together.
Great post, MM!
This is so great. never look at the moon the same! good one MM!

I'm smiling a Cheshire smile over this musing.
When I was a toddler, I used to gaze at that sphere and say, "I looked at the moon and the moon looked at me. The moon looked better than me." At least that is the story my mother tells me. I apparently have had a moon fetish all of my life.
Awesome 55, Mr MM.
Never thought of the moon as grinning like the Cheshire cat, but now that I think of it...
My 55 is Meandering Streams
Mr. Stone - this isn't my 55. But thank you just the same. My 55 will appear after midnight PST.
Love this one. What is it about the moon that is so endearing to our hearts from childhood on....?
love this. love to stand and look at the moon and imagine....great 55.
LOVE it! Our magical moon... it never fails draws me in.
The moon had forsaken me last night when I ventured out. Without it, I was lost in the dark...

whether it grins or is in full bloom, its magical and beautiful!
Just knowing that the cat has a pull on our common perspective and is a force in our physical reality is enough for my primitive brain to comprehend. Nice Piece MM.
A choice between two ways of looking at the world, it seems. I vote for the poetic. I enjoy this discourse with the moon.
Probably more than a rock, or at least I think! Very Cool!
Actually this is beautiful. If I may say so. I love the picture you've written for us...yes, a picture. It's perfect in every way. But, I also must add that from now on I will see the 'new' moon as a Cheshire Cat Smile!
TIGER TEARS is my 55 this week.
The Chinese believes the moon represents romance.
The CNY Valentine's day is on the
15th of CNY.
I have no doubt that there are
fairies on the moon but again,
I am just a romantic.
Lovely 55.
Have you a great weekend.

I enjoyed reading! I'm a bit wild when there is a full moon!

Wonderful. I remember standing outside around 1:30AM one night in July 1969, looking up at an enormously full moon, listening to Neil Armstrong say, "One small step...", and thinking "how can this be?"
Very wonderful. No wonder we like looking at the moon.

my feelings exactly when I look at the moon. Thank goodness it changes, seemingly just for our pleasure, otherwise we'd think we were too small for the universe! Tnanks for your writing, keep up the happiness, my motto: LITSNT, life's too short not to.

The moon can have a beautiful secretive quality to some or a sinister lurking presence to others.
Being a moon I'll side with the secretive - she has a smile because she know something but the secret is there for anyone looking - she just holds the key.
Nice poem - inspirational as well
