As the oxygen depleted altitude
began to affect his thinking,
his white knuckled fingers
gripped even tighter
and he allowed himself
a firmer foothold,
all the while repeating,
“Don’t look down.
Don’t look down.”
At the same time,
his partner murmured,
“Stop with the drama already, will you.
It’s only a six foot step ladder.”

I just happened to stop by on a whim, and low and behold...A 55?
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End...G
Hey, wait - that's more like ME. Put a spider at the top of the latter, and I'm NOT going, no way, no how...
Ha. I used be afraid of heights until someone told me that a fear of heights is a fear of power. Presto! I was cured!
I can always count on you for an awesome twist. Loved it!
I feel the sky high height in the first part of reading, smiled big after read the last line!
skillful short fiction, loved the read.
:)
exhilarating 55.
of all days, today I needed that laugh. Thanks MM.
I thoroughly enjoyed the content and love the formation of it.
I sympathise! I can manage six foot, but get above 30 and I'm lost!
I'm with him all the way....well, maybe the third step. :) Love it!
My 55 arehere.
LOL It never looks as high when we're standing on the ground looking up as what it feels when we're up >>> there!
This made me chuckle, thank you :)
We do have days like that! thanks-
Love the funny ones, MM! Thanks.
I'm beginning to see a pattern here in these 55's. ;_) Thank goodness there is someone to save the narrator from himself.
Loved the graffiti story as well--finally, not just Americans do stupid and nasty things for ridiculous reasons, and then get caught at it. Refreshing tale with international flavor, MM.
Fear of heights knows no boundaries :) loved the oxygen-depleted environment... amazing how hyperventilating will get you there, and fast.
Well done, MM!
LOL! Sounds like my dd and I while painting.
lolsss
MM, that was some humor for my Saturday morning- rushing for work- uncalled for!
SULK
hugs xoxo
Thanks for making me laugh with this! :)
You made me smile with this one!
I still remember my Dad coming into my room while I was reading and asking 16 year old me, "Whatcha doing? I could use some help."
So up the ladder I went to paint the eaves of the house while my Dad, who I thought was invincible, stood firmly on the ground, afraid of heights.
Good one!
Ah, but it looks so much higher from up there. :)
haha! Well, I pass out when I stand on my tip-toes... :P
Hah! I am late in reading 55s, so am full of the intensity of having watched 9/11 programming today. As I began reading your 55 I was thinking in those terms. I really needed the ending in this 55! What a great way to start Sept. 12th (just past midnight here). Thanks!
