55 - Unknown Fear

At the door,
scratching and a moaning whimper
sent cold chills down his spine.
Fear overtook him
as he fumbled for a light switch,
paused,
and thought better of turning on a light.
As he reached for the doorknob,
he froze.
Heart pounding, he heard
“It’s only the dog.
Quit watching Zombie movies before bed.”

oh yes! Another toe-curling orgasmaprose from the expert of twist endings. Thanks, my friend. The zombie thing was just what I was in the mood for.

I hate it when a movie creeps me out--last one that really did was Descent--claustrophobia + trapped ten miles underground + cannibalistic sightless cave troglodytes = no sleep.

Nice 55 MM,--and I'm with you all the way on the WTH wednesday story. Some things I will just never get, I guess.

LOL! I have a similar story, but it involves a raccoon at a camp ground, this past May. :)

You can't just give up zombie movies cold turkey. You have to cut down gradually!

Oh I've been there! In my case it's more like: What's attacking me? What is this weight on my chest? Why can't I breathe? Oh it's the cat...... But I understand this one well. :)

My 55 are here.

This is exactly why I don't watch horror flicks. Nicely twisted.

You always know how to add just the right twist- zombiessssssss....

Ack. No can do. My taste in movies is so boring it puts my dogs to sleep.

My mind immediately went to the dog...'cause mine are out there now scratching at the door, and I prefer not to leave my laptop and this riveting poem of yours!
And yeah, stop watching Zombie movies, what are you: 13?!!!

I'm the same way when I watch something like that before bed. Fun 55. :)

You have no idea how many times the dog has scared me or how many times I've scared the dog.

There I was, getting real scared, my heart pounding...until someone said, "It's only the dog....."

Cat sleeps with me (and that--in about ten minutes--grin!). the only time he makes noise is if I rollover on him. Sounds like a zombie to me.

PEACE! Maybe?--grin!

What a lot of fun! Actually, it reminds me a bit of my husband who has been known to get the spookies at night.

I really appreciated your kind welcome to the 55 group.
