One Shot - Tracks

Stop.
Turn around and look back.
Whose tracks are those and where have they led?
Was there purpose?
Was it leaping blindly from one opportunity to the next?
Did the tracks circle aimlessly
or sink deep clinging desperately to a single spot?
Were tracks leading forward then back?
Did knees hit the ground in surrender or prayer?
Will the tracks of the past give direction for the future?
Look back to learn the wisdom of the tracks.
Let it lead forward.
Let it meander with joy.
The end is never known.
Love and cherish the tracks along the way.

Words of wisdom to guide the week, the year... here's to hoping we can all cherish the steps we take along this journey.

Perfect One Shot, MM.

excellent one shot monkey...we should look back to let it guide us forward...the problem in looking back is getting stuck facing the wrong direction...nicely played.

Everything I have ever done has led me here to this now, and yes indeed all I do now leads me forward to the unknown.

isn't it wonderful to be able to see in retrospect the reasons and the whys? This is what helps me look back without regret. What a lovely reminder with this poem!

Great OneShot. yes I will love and cherish my tracks!
xoxo

Look back to see where you've been, I say, but don't continuously circle back on them. Then, of course there's that fork in the road you didn't count on. So much depends on what happens there. Good work, well done. Thanks, Gay (@beachanny)

Thoughtful poetry, MM. Also reads like good advice and a truthful admission of what's felt and unknown in life.

I really loved the flow of this, Monkey Man, and I loved the journey. Sometimes we do need to look back to see how far we've come...

Love and cherish the tracks, for they are soon obliterated by the wind. Enjoyed this!

Sometimes it hurts to look back to see how far we have come or how much more we have to tread. The tracks tell our story; the paths we have strayed, etc. The journey continues. Brilliant concept. Enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by.
