One Shot Wednesday - The Touch

The great silent tree shudders at a tender touch

Even through thick bark built up over decades

Long, slender, graceful fingers penetrate the shield

Leaving the great tree bare to its emotions

The tree touches back

Groaning, "I'm home."

Moisture dripping from the tips of it leaves

feeling the touch even through thick bark built up over decades...how love's touch can make thick bark melt away...like this!

There have been a few people like this I was able to reach through the tender touch of love - was able to penetrate their defenses. It doesn't happen often. It is a beautiful thing when it does occur.

Lovely poem.

A verse of truth. Good one, too. I wondered:

gnarled fingers touching
gnarled trunk
make happy tree

Good one, happy monkey!

Wonderful how you use the imagery of the tree, connect and contrast the tactile feel of "thick bark" with "tender touch", "penetrate the shield" with "bare to its emotions". Very well done.

Deep to the very roots. The overlapping of imagery reveals a vulnerable nature, bare and seeking home. Love it.

Fabulous, MM. I may have said this somewhere, some other time...but I truly do believe it: I like most trees better than the majority of people I know. And I love your tribute.

Excellent, MM. That's love, to persevere to touch when there's thick bark to breech.

Most of us wear a protective armor like this beautiful tree but below this layer is usually something that is quite delicate & wonderful & well worth reaching out to with a soft touch I reckon. Loved this Monkey Man!!

I'm reminded of another One Shot I just read about an old oak tree. I think autumn and the leaves changing has given people trees on their minds.

Well done! A light touch is all that's necessary, when the timing is right. I love how you gave the tree eyes in its leaves.

Oh, I really enjoyed this...how the right touch can reach through the thickest exteriors and touch a heart. Shared touches bring us home. Just lovely, Monkey Man.

I love the life you have breathed into this old tree. A very beautiful poem, which reminds us to care for all living breathing things.

This is exquisite. I posted a tree poem this week, too. I think on Jingle's Rally (Thursday).
They have so much to inspire.
