My Muse Blew a Fuse - 55

Looking for inspiration
in even the most mundane activities,
he was stumped.
A leaf holding for dear life
in spite of the wind twisting it from its branch.
Silver streaks of rain rat-a-tatting on a window,
obscuring the gray monotony beyond the glass.
For want of a 55 he strained his mind and got nothin'.

I love this! I will often resort to writing about having nothing to write about, but you took it a step further and actually *did* have something to say - whether you realized it or not. :)

Something from nothing. Nice.

Sounds like inspiration was found in the mundane--the real secrets are held in the places we overlook everyday because we think we know them so well. It's easy to find something exciting in the novel and new, but to take the old and make it register anew--that's appreciating the moment.

Nothing???? This is great! I am always amazed at how that last leaf always seems to hang in there. Very nicely done.

Oh that rain will do that to you....remember Gene Kelly's salute to Oregon song 'dancing in the rain- well at least I think so: anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the Oregon rain....

thats how it goes sometimes. One day you'll find the most poignant inspiration and the next day you draw a blank.

Jinksy said...

Seems like you and me both are a trifle wet today! LOL :)

The title had me at once...and the rest was dessert. The muse came through for you unaware.

That was great! I was actually there today until mine popped into my head.

Spiderman's Ride is my 55 this week.

When you can't think of a topic for your 55, there's always the topic of NOT finding a topic.

(Does that make it a NON-55?)

Nice job, MM!

I wish I could write something as nice, when I fing nothing to write about. Enjoyed.

RNSANE said...

Excellent - and how often have we all been in that same position! Sometimes, I think I'll never come up with anything to write.

Mine is at:

Oh I've been there...hear you loud and clear :-)

anthonynorth said...

That's quite something pretending to be nothing.

PattiKen said...

Oh, I think we all disagree with you on this one, MM. That is quite something. Isn't it wonderful the ways in which the muse speaks to you when you think all you hear is silence?

Lulda Casadaga said...

Somehow they manage to show up on Friday...great job my friend! :)

...pffft...for a guy who got nothing, I think you did pretty good.
I keep coming back here for the company, not because I'm your intellectual equal, 'cause I am always overwhelmed by you and your brilliance!...just sayin'...
