Looking for inspiration
in even the most mundane activities,
he was stumped.
A leaf holding for dear life
in spite of the wind twisting it from its branch.
Silver streaks of rain rat-a-tatting on a window,
obscuring the gray monotony beyond the glass.
For want of a 55 he strained his mind and got nothin'.

Nice 55 MM
Happy Day
The photo combined with the 55---awesome.
but still said much...smiles. good job monkey!
I love this! I will often resort to writing about having nothing to write about, but you took it a step further and actually *did* have something to say - whether you realized it or not. :)

Well dang, Monkey! Your muses nothing is better than my muses something.
Nice!
i'd say he captured a mood quite nicely.
Something from nothing. Nice.
Sounds like inspiration was found in the mundane--the real secrets are held in the places we overlook everyday because we think we know them so well. It's easy to find something exciting in the novel and new, but to take the old and make it register anew--that's appreciating the moment.
Nothing???? This is great! I am always amazed at how that last leaf always seems to hang in there. Very nicely done.

do you know what looking for inspiration in mundane means?
You can have an epiphany!
Great 55ve!
that's a pretty great nothing :)
Not bad for a fuseless muse, um, not b- oh never mind, great 55!
pft. Hardly nothing. :)
You are invited on Photographis where we celebrate 3 years of blogging! You can meet my friends!
Thank you!
Best regards from Romania!
I'd say that's quite something actually. Well done!
[.....]
(the sound of me waiting to hear what you really had to say.)
For want of a thought, the war was was lost?
Go see my happy puss. Her empty head will cheer you up.
Ha! Looks to me like you got somethin'. Nice 55.
Oh that rain will do that to you....remember Gene Kelly's salute to Oregon song 'dancing in the rain- well at least I think so: anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the Oregon rain....
cheers,
joanny
i am with gman on this one! lol! excellent, and do hope his weather doesnt stay wet thru the weekend!
thats how it goes sometimes. One day you'll find the most poignant inspiration and the next day you draw a blank.
Seems like you and me both are a trifle wet today! LOL :)
The title had me at once...and the rest was dessert. The muse came through for you unaware.
That was great! I was actually there today until mine popped into my head.
Spiderman's Ride is my 55 this week.
When you can't think of a topic for your 55, there's always the topic of NOT finding a topic.
(Does that make it a NON-55?)
Nice job, MM!
I wish I could write something as nice, when I fing nothing to write about. Enjoyed.
Excellent - and how often have we all been in that same position! Sometimes, I think I'll never come up with anything to write.
Mine is at:

When will it become Sunday 320? I want read more!
Oh I've been there...hear you loud and clear :-)
That's quite something pretending to be nothing.
Oh, I think we all disagree with you on this one, MM. That is quite something. Isn't it wonderful the ways in which the muse speaks to you when you think all you hear is silence?
Somehow they manage to show up on Friday...great job my friend! :)
So many of us turned nothing into something today.
Ha! only 55 more words to go...and a whole lotta fall...
nice poetry in stillness.
mine is HERE dedicated to my poet friends.
Di
looks like the muse has kissed you in the end..smiles
i like the rain rat-a-tatting on a window...nice!
...pffft...for a guy who got nothing, I think you did pretty good.
I keep coming back here for the company, not because I'm your intellectual equal, 'cause I am always overwhelmed by you and your brilliance!...just sayin'...
Oh Monkey Man I beg to differ...you definitely got something! Loved your 160, lots!!
