Windswept Wisdom - A One Shot Wednesday

The trees
are talking tonight.
Some whisper
to answer
the call of crickets.
Others cry
as they stand alone
with no other tree nearby
to touch with leaf or root.
When the wind is low,
they nod to each other.
They rustle and groan
under the weight of their words.
Seeking relief from the boredom of stillness.
The breeze inspires thought
and the surge of decades of wisdom.
Words we cannot understand.
Yet should take the time to hear.

I always try to listen to the trees, as well as the rest of nature. Sometimes it's easy, but often it's only a whisper.

If I could speak the language of trees, I'm sure I would be amazed.

now i feel guilty about cursing the apple trees in my back yard. Guess they were just trying to talk to me by throwing old apples at my head to get my attention.

When I take time to listen to the trees surrounding me out here on the high desert, I have noticed they all make really different sounds and it's magic! Pure magic.

I'd wager that trees have more intelligent things to say than the vast majority of the people I know...myself included! :)

I really enjoyed this, MM. And the photo is *incredible*!

I love trees and have no doubts they have fabulous wisdom to share if we would just listen. I loved this poem and it will linger with me. "The breeze inspires thought" - that's a wonderful line.

Trees should be listened to. They've been around a lot longer than us.

I love sitting in a glade of trees and just listen to the rustle. Mine is I’m the beast that you fear, in the shadows of night

Monkey Man

This is truly beautiful and your photo is a stunning visual.

And I read the vacuum story and I would too be saying, "what the hell".
I don't know why but the story made me laugh seriously though the man was beaten -- that can't be good.

cheers,
Joanny

thanks for leaving another comment on the 160, strange things have been going on with my posts/comments lately. Haven't a clue what it is?

I love to listen to trees. My favorite is the whispery voices of palm trees in the night singing a tropical lullaby.

Wow. That really resonated with me. My dear friend used to have a massive weeping willow in her yard. We'd go lie under it, listening to the wind, and talk quietly of our lives. I know the tree listened.
