Real or imagined......

Long bony fingers gripped
the frayed edge of the curtain.
In a corner of the room,
Sara tried to make herself
as small as possible,
hoping she couldn’t be seen.
The curtains fluttered.
The hand disappeared.
Sara glanced around the room
looking for the creature.
Had it been real or was it her imagination
again.

Creepy... And it just reminded me of when I was little. My dad had an old Wurlitzer organ, and my mother always put it in the "formal living room"... you know... the room that only grown-ups go into when your parents had a dinner party? Anyway, the only time I went into the formal living room was to practice (or play around) on the organ. And sometimes I'd go late at night, and only turn on the little light over the music stand. The rest of the room would be dark. And I was alone. And I'd sometimes play some notes that would send little shivers up my spine. And then I'd get so spooked that I would hastily turn off the organ and rush out of the room before the Unknown Creepy Thing could get me.
