55 - Damn Modern Music

“I just don’t like the music
played on the radio these days.
Half the time,
I can’t understand the words.
The music I grew up with
was so much more interesting
and told an intricate
and fascinating story.
AND today's lyrics are so repetitive.”

“I have four words for you, Dad. Cream - I’m So Glad.”

I'm glad I came by. So glad, so glad, so glad...

Hey, is there an echo in here? Hello, hello, hello? Where's the old man? (Oops, I mean Monkey!) Just teasing. Fun 55 MM. :)

Hmmm. This is REALLY my first time ever hearing this song. Thanks, Monkey Man, for making me feel so YOUNG! :)

Damn modern kids -- they only know the old songs they can use against you in conversations like this. I don't know this song but I'm not sure if that makes me young or just lacking musical history... Enjoyed your 55!

My mother said the same thing, only she was talking about Country Western.

Yeah, that song sucked. But It was an exception, I tell ya. Still, I remember hearing the same thing when I was a kid so I have suffered through some really horribly stuff with clenched teeth for the sake of good parenting. Loved your 55, and in your WTH feature this week, the Canucks are giving us Okies and the Floridians a real run for the money in the Stupidity Cup.

Someone once came to one of my parties and, after listening to the carefully planned background music for an hour or so said: "Are you really stuck in 1974?"

Ah well.

Ah Cream ...
Repetitious but I'm so glad for the talent like Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker that they cranked out

Happy Friday

LMAO oh I'm dreading the day. Right now we're indoctrinating the preschooler with the Muppet Show. Now every time she hears an Elton John song she says, "Momma momma Muppets!"

When the music starts to sound all the same, a lot of noise and words that you just don't understand anymore, yes, you're getting old.
Happened to me in my 30's...LOL
Great 55!

I find myself listening to the oldies stations. I love the 70's and 80's music.

What was the boy's point? "I'm so glad" sounded pretty articulate to me - besides, everything was more intricate and fascinating back then, when everyone was high.

Ah yes...another parental example down the tubes. :)

Thanks for being my Copy Editor this morning. ;)

Only because my computer stuttered and posted twice. :)

I'm so glad for your fab, musical 55 (my favorite kind). The story songwriters are harder to find these days, indeed ~

Ah, music is such a strange brew nowadays. We hit the crossroads when the reasons for expression in music went. Today's bands don't wear the badge, no sunshine of your love. Take me to the white room for a spoonful of classic's any time, where I feel free ;-)

Now, I cannot beat anthonynorth's comment......but I'm still so glad you gave me a chance to read your great 55, listen to this song that I hadn't thought of for ages, and just stare at that color-combo of pink&orange (I love pink&orange together)!

the music gets weirder and weirder every day!

Modern yoof seems to need noise, rhythm and nothing else. Most of the contemporary output is musically bankrupt with unintelligible words.
Nice FFF55

I have always LOVED that song.

And your words ring SO true.
