What The Hell Wednesday - Facebook Felony

Although I do have a Facebook page, I am not a huge fan of posting all of my "important life activities" status updates on a moment to moment basis. You won't find me doing - this....

Monkey Man
Woke up. Showered and made coffee....but not at the same time. Although I am so wonderful I probably could.

Monkey Man
Drove to work. Traffic Sucked. Don't other drivers know how important I am.

Monkey Man
Everything I say is interesting.....just ask me.

We all know the THAT Facebooker. Is that a word? "I may not be much, but I'm all I think about." Yeah. That guy...girl. Whatever.

The point is, you should be careful on Facebook or this may happen to you......

Facebook Post Attracts Robbers

Near St. Louis - Police say a Facebook posting apparently prompted a home invasion and robbery in Alton early Monday morning.

Alton Police Department Chief of Detectives Scott Golike said one of two young women who live in the home had posted a message on Facebook, boasting of receiving a monetary settlement in a civil court proceeding. He said the mention of money apparently attracted the robbers.

"This is a good lesson about how not to use Facebook," Golike said.

Police are seeking two men who allegedly broke into the residence at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday.

Golike said the men, both wearing bandannas and armed with handguns, burst into the home and held residents at gunpoint.

As it turned out, no one was hurt, the robbers obtained no money and took only a few of the residents' personal belongings. The two women live with several children and a man who was not home at the time of the robbery.

Police have strong leads regarding identity of the suspects.

Right off the top..."live with....a man who was not home at the time of the robbery"....."strong leads regarding identity of the suspects." Coincidence? I think not. But definitely hand over your "friends" list to the police. Maybe they will see that comment on your status that says -

Joe Friend  Soooo...where are you keeping the cash??? You can tell me. I'm your most honest Friend.

Man of the house is conveniently gone. I am guessing he is either a part of the gang of thieves or the thieves just waited until the young women posted a status saying "Boy, I thought he would never leave." What a bunch of morons.

I wonder if they played one of those games where they ask questions. You know the ones. The "Top Five Smells I Like Best". Or  "My favorite ten movies". Or "Best places to hide my civil suit settlement money".

Now back to the thieves. Did they really think they wouldn't be caught if they were allegedly using Facebook to get to this girl's money. You think they can't follow you following someone else? Hmmmm. I don't know how, but surely they can.

Well, anyway you look at it. When the thieves didn't find what they wanted, I am sure they looked at one another and said "What the Hell?"

You know, I don't share my vacation with people until I come back from the vacation. On the vacation, I have posts going up in the queue so no one is the wiser that I'm gone. I really don't get people. I see that online all the time "Going for a week to Hawaii tomorrow! Yahoo!" Hahaha Oh jeez!

First, proofreader alert: We all KNOW the Facebooker..."

Second, Facebook is a challenging art form. I don't get it.

Third, I thought for sure you'd do a what-the-hell? Wednesday blurb about the guy who peed in the Portland reservoir (they caught it on security camera) and caused the utility to flush 8 million gallons down the pipe. The "yuck factor' was the primary reason for the flush, said one official.

But what I really want to know is: When did "pee" become an acceptable word in the AP lexicon?

Thanks, Chris, I will fix that. I am surprised there aren't more, I didn't even use spell check let alone go back and proof my work.

kicked the FB habit back the end of last year...does not surprise me as people put all kinds of junk on there...

Yep.. it is surprising what people will disclose about themselves on FB & other social websites. Some people may misuse these forums but for others they are a great tool to reconnect with old friends. If they're used wisely, they're good!!

I gave up on FB about 3-4 weeks ago. It says a lot about the system that no-one's noticed yet (apparently).

Beware of who you "friend" and don't let them know you are not at home. I wait until I am back from vacation and then post some pictures.

I have FB but rarely use it. And yes, I've heard of homes being broken into after people post that they will be away for vacation. I never give out that kind of information.

What is this facebook of which you speak? Is it that place where every guy on the planet takes a self-photo using a camera phone? And mentions in his 17th post of the day that he's building another new bike rim?

Oh, sorry - no slam meant for your recent self portrait on your post. Um. I believe Mrs. MM probably offered to take one for you. Why didn't you take her up on that?!?!?

I think I'd better go now...

haha at Pheromone Girl... you know, the only thing that is better than yours and her posts, are the comments you leave each other...just sayin', there's a blog post in there somewhere.
As for the Facebook status update thing, personally, I thing you should post the ones you listed off at the beginning of this post. Trust me, it would beat the "My kid just got his leg amputated and I am sad, but not sad enough to stay off of Facebook." Believe me, I've read this one.

On those rare occasions when I do post stuff on Facebook, it's usually just meaningless crap like the stuff I Twitter.
And the stuff I blog about.

Come to think of it, most of the stuff I say is meaningless crap.

Most of what I write--anywhere--is also CRAP. But do not insult my crap by name-calling, meaningless?

Hey Monkey--your kind of meandering is my favorite reading..real wit here!
