Ready??? (55 and counting)

We all have this one “friend”
who seems to carry
their own odd sense of time.
I call it “relative time”
because it is a distant relative to real time.
These people are always late
and when they are “ready”
they announce,
“I'm ready. I just have to….”
You know the rest of the story.

This is a Flash Fiction Friday 55.

This is so true…as someone who believes in being punctual there is no relative time for me, I only believe in the real thing…very nice observation here!

LOL...that's so true. And over here we have Hawaiian time and it's almost if not worse than relative time. You wouldn't believe it. I'm so punctual it's scary and I just go nuts with relative time. Very well done my friend. Have a wonderful Friday :)

Its the by or on distinction. For my wife and son deadlines are the day you do the work and for me its when you have it done by. Today is a course deadline so my work was in over a week ago. The next deadline is the 21st of May but I will have the first draft done by Monday! My 55 is here

:pee:

That's what I hear all the time with those friends....we're all ready, and then that particular one slows up the whole shebang, 'cause they have to stop and pee.

Oh well...I was just trying to finish the 'rest of the story'...kinda like Paul Harvey.

Here is my Flash 55 for the week. [scroll down below my Show n Tell feature]

Have a wonderful Friday.

Those people with time sink issues are usually artists or self-important I find.

Aww, shit. Are you talking about me? Me and my own odd sense of time? Like right now, for instance, I tell myself, I just have to comment on one more blog and then I'll......

Thanks for talking to me!

Yes, we all know people like that. I'm related to a couple of them.

Well I am the rose among 4 thorns in my family. I like to be punctual but they all have the dreaded "In a minute disease" I tell you ... it is hard work!

Katherine said...

And the youngest of the family also has the awful "Whats in it for me syndrome"...

Those people drive me up a tree. I seriously think they keep people waiting as a power play.

I'm one of these people, I call it island time, from being in Orcas Island a lot ... we'll get there...no worries.

'On time' is arriving 15 minutes early.

Okay, for me, anyway. My family has learned to adjust- they've also learned to appreciate that someone on time is also someone well-prepared. Saved their bacon a time or two...

I am married to one of them..

my 55 is up

Hey, I didn't know that you knew my husband! That would be the guy who was 45 minutes late for our first date! You've described him perfectly!

My husband too...why is their time so much more valuable than our time. When they are late, they tell you too chill our and relax. Like we have the problem.

Lost my watch when I retired five years ago. I haven't missed it.

And doesn't that person just drive us all crazy, especially those of us who are punctual and like to arrive at places promptly!!! I know too many people like that. Great 55.

Hmmm, sounds like me when I'm blogging.... and my kids say, "MOM! I'll be waiting...in the car!"
mine is up HERE

love the theme songs, I just got it when the second one monkey boy came on. How about the jungle book song: oooh oooh oooh I wanna be like you-oo-oo...

I do. These people drive me crazy. It's always about them. And sometimes their hair. Good one!

Green-Eyed Momster said...

Maybe these people never learned how to tell time....
For real.

Maybe they're called choromps! (W.V.)

So, you've met my mother, have you? :)

The joke is that she'll be late to her own funeral. Hope you have a great weekend!

Drives me crazy! I mean crazier than I already am. Yeah, that crazy!

Evalinn said...

Ah yes, and it´s SO annoying!

Ugh! I always seem to make friends with the chronically late. I think it's because I was raised by one of them. Why is it that I am always dumb enough to show up on time? I'd like to think it was optimism, but I think I'm just dumb.
