Fifty Five???

As nearly sixty people each week (or is that 55 on average) offer up their creative thoughts in fifty five words, I wonder to myself, “Is anyone really counting the words on every submission?” First, who would be so obsessed? Second, is everyone that honest? Who would really know if this is fifty four or

I've never counted anybody elses, but I always count mine. Great 55 topic! Somebody needed to ask the question :o)

I'd say not many would check. Infact, I think you can count on them not doing so :-)

Yeah ~ I've been known to count. Mostly because it continues to amaze me what can be said with so few words I feel I have to! That and I've got that obsessive mind an addict tends to have :-) Working on that part though ... One Day at A time!

Take a gander at my 55 for the week.

Ciao,

Chef Kar

It;s the telling not the word the word count that counts but if someone were so anal to count every word then they miss the story and the point...does punctuation count as a word?

Actually.....I AM honest, but perhaps a little obsessed too. I type in the word count generator online. LOL

Mine is posted HERE...as always, scroll down below my Friday's show n tell.

I use Microsoft works and click on the word count to see the amount of words. At first it is always more than 55 words, so I have to go delete words. If someones is long looking, I count it because some are so good, it is hard to believe they are 55, most are. I didn't count yours. Good 55.

Right on, Connie. That is exactly what I do. It's funny, now that I have written a few of these, I always come very close right out of the box. I love it when I hit exactly 55 on the first try. I am so easily entertained.

As G-man himself says....it's really about the entertainment anyway. Thanks, G-man.

Wait. What? said...

Now I am of the mind to begin counting!!! hehehe Loved, this playful 55!!

ROFL because I was thinking this as I wrote mine! I agonised over which word to take out at 56, and the little voice in my head kept saying, "who's going to freakin' count??"

But oooh it would have felt so dirty, to leave it in there! I love the way you ended mid-thought to get your 55; gorgeous.

We count and we count and we miscount. We did not eat the end of your sentance.
Very cute 55

You always make me laugh!

And yes, I count. Like Susan, this week I hit 56 and groused until I killed the extra word.

Who counts? Probably no one but my conscience, which nags me until "Word Count" comes out at 55. Hey, someone from my state has to stay honest and I don't want anyone pointing at me yelling, "You lie!" :)

Have a great weekend!

shoot, g is one of the worse offenders in breaking the rules of the 55, but that makes him cool as shiznit. ;0) lol love the 55. btw, mine are always 55, i use word count lol i'm up at ramblings.

Well I counted yours! LOL

Joking apart I think that mostly if people have erred by one or two words they tend to fess up.

I enjoyed your 55 and thanks for reading mine. :)

well, I do write 55ve words. There is this tool at Charles 's blog ( you will find his link at my blog) which does the counting down as you write . You will find it at the bottom of his artificial intelligence blog web page!

hey, if you publish comments only after approval, you need not have the word verification on. you can easily filter out spam yourself when you publish the comments!

Googles' word counter counted 56. I counted and I counted 55. Yes, I am numberly obsessed.

Based on my personal experience, I can tell you G-Man counts!

55 or bust! This is a creative 55 indeed.

Now you have me wondering who's cheating. I use a word counter. But I understand different word processing software might count words differently. Mine counts a hyphenated word as one, but I think the program my husband uses counts it as two. I guess I wouldn't quibble over a 54 or a 56. I type mine on in word processing program, then copy and paste them into my blog. I have enough to last several months and usually post three or four at a time, future dating each to publish on a Friday in the future. So all I have to do is put my comment in to the g-man.
